Chapter 13: Developmental and Disruptive Behavior Disorders

Please complete the required readings first, then bring in information/research (at least 2 key terms/concepts) from the required readings to answer the questions below:

After reading Chapter 13, you learned about Developmental and Disruptive Behavior Disorders. What may be considered “typical” behavior at one age, may qualify as “disruptive” in later stages of development based on the DSM V criteria. “When you next see a child being disruptive in public, ask yourself what might be causing the child’s misbehavior”, (Kearny and Trull, 2018). Using the content from the required readings:

• Explain how disruptive behavior disorders differ from typical protest behaviors. How are they different and in which areas do they overlap in certain cases?
• Define the major symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. What are the subtypes and how does diagnosis differ with the identified gender of the child?
• Using what you have learned about Disruptive Behavior Disorders, why do you believe there is a higher percentage of diagnosis for children identifying as boys than those who identify as girls?
