Class,
We all hear it over and over: evidence-based practice. We know that this is an expectation of all of us–that we keep ourselves abreast of changes in the research and practice according to the latest proven evidence to maintain safe and quality patient care. However, has this made the “art” of nursing a thing of the past? Recently a student called the art of nursing and “archaic” premise whose time is past. Is this true? Can they be combined? Can we have evidence based practice without losing the art of nursing? Does it matter?
