Scenario 1: Forces of Change

Define reactive and proactive change. Provide examples of each that your organization is facing or has faced (you can select another company with which you are familiar), and then answer the following questions:

1. Considering the forces for change described in Figure 10.1, what is a primary force driving that change?
2. What are your recommendations for successfully implementing that change?

Scenario 2: Change Management Models

Compare Lewin’s Change Model with Kotter’s Eight Steps for leading Organizational Change and then answer the following questions:

1. Which model is more practical for driving change in an organization and why?
2. How can you apply either model to help yourself continuously adapt to and thrive in a dynamic competitive environment?

Scenario 3: Change Management Steps

Identify a problem at work or school or in life that requires change. Applying Kotter’s Eight Steps for Leading Organizational Change, draft a plan for driving the change.

Scenario 4:

After reading “Epilogue: The Keys to Your Managerial Success,” address the following:

1. What is a key concept you learned from this course that can directly improve your success at school or work and in life?
2. Imagine that you are a mentor for a student who will start MGT/521 Management next week. What advice would you give that student for success in this course and in the program?
