Kinicki and Williams, (2016) in Management, Ch. 12 discusses process perspectives of motivation, which are concerned with the thought processes by which people decide how to act. Process theories have three viewpoints: equity theory, expectancy theory, and goal-setting theory.

Describe a time that you experienced inequity at your company (or a previous one). Describe what created these feelings of inequity and how you dealt with the situation.
Apply Vroom’s expectancy theory to explain your level of effort in this class.
Using the article “At Google, the Science of Working Better” as your foundation, describe theories of motivation which are demonstrated at Google.

Motivation: It is important for managers to understand how to motivate their employees. Kinicki and Williams (2016) in Management, Ch. 12 discusses motivation, which is defined as the psychological processes that arouse and direct people’s goal-directed behavior. The four major perspectives on motivation are need-based, process, job design, and reinforcement
Discuss why it is important for managers to understand how to motivate their employees.
Think back to the favorite job you have ever had. Describe the intrinsic rewards that you enjoyed with that job.
Using the article “Why Wal-Mart’s Minimum Wage Hike Makes Business Sense” as your foundation, critique the decision of Wal-Mart to increase its wages. Explain if you think the strategic move will help or hinder the firm’s bottom line financial results

Many leaders must influence a wide range of groups over which they have no direct authority and the author contends that women on average are just better at this kind of leadership. (Kinicki and Williams, 2016).
Reflect on the traits and leadership style of a male leader and those of a female leader with whom you have worked. Describe the key differences between their approaches to leadership?
Describe a time you saw someone display behaviors that would be consistent with the “dark side” traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and/or psychopathy. To what extent did those traits help or hinder the person’s career success?
Using the article “The Trait that Makes Women Great Leaders” as your foundation, discuss the reasons profiled in the article as to why women are better suited to influence a wide range of groups over which they have no direct authority
