This week we will practice thinking critically about what you see and hear in mainstream news coverage. Our goal is to practice identifying opinions embedded in the news and to mentally reconstructing news stories from numerous perspectives by applying the intellectual standards presented in this week’s reading assignments. 

Which news outlets do you use to inform your opinions? What is your judgment of their quality? What standards do you use to judge their quality? How can you broaden your perspective on current events? What is the relationship between your perspective on current events and your role as a citizen in your local community and in the World in general?
