Extra Tips from the Professor:
Imagine writing an email for the employees at your company to announce the upcoming training sessions. In business messages, announce the purpose of the message immediately (after a pleasant greeting). Then describe the upcoming training sessions by writing a few sentences about each of the four topics listed above. I will be looking for you to demonstrate a basic understanding of these four important topics covered in the Week 1 class readings in ENG 135 (Chapters 1 & 3 of our textbook).
Try taking notes on the topics as you are reading because note-taking is a proven learning strategy. Then review your notes and write the email in your own words to show what you have learned. This is an important part of the learning process because when you can explain something in your own words, then you really know it! Do not copy or quote the textbook or other sources in your ENG 135 assignments.
Plan to write one short paragraph of 3-5+ sentences per topic. Use short paragraphs followed by a line of white space to spread out the paragraphs and make reading much easier in email format. Tip: Check the grading rubric to the right to see how your assignment will be graded. Good luck!
