Remember the essay we read earlier by Anne Lamott on “Shitty First Drafts” Download “Shitty First Drafts”? Your goal is to apply her wisdom once again to get started writing with a draft of the Qualitative Research essay.
Spend some time reviewing the Qualitative Research Essay assignment instructions. Also, be sure to use the resources from this unit to ensure you are meeting the goals of this paper:

Then, get started writing! Remember, we are not expecting perfection this week. We are looking to be sure you are applying the lessons on qualitative research into your essay. Your work this week will be graded on the presence of:
- An introduction that overviews the topic and engages the reader’s interest
- A guiding research question and thesis
- Required sections of your paper (Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion). These sections may not be complete at this point, but they should be attempted.
Once you are ready to submit the essay for this week’s assignment, also submit it to Smarthinking Online Tutoring. This will allow you to receive feedback from both your instructor and a professional tutor.
Discussion Content
Discussions play an integral role in monitoring your course participation throughout the term. You should check back to the weekly discussions multiple times throughout the week to engage in the discussion with your professor and peers. Participation is only counted during the week in which this discussion is assigned. Be sure to appropriately cite any sources you use to support your responses with standard APA citations. Answer the prompt question(s) thoroughly, using at least 150-200 words, and respond to as many of your peers as possible. Note that responses to 2 of your peers are required for full credit. Be sure to answer any additional questions asked by your professor in the discussion threads. Your initial post is due by Day 3 of the current week, and follow up posts to your peers are due on Day 7!
