This Assignment assesses the following Course Outcome:
CE220-4: Identify developmentally appropriate and healthy food choices for young children.
This Assignment will give you the opportunity to encourage children (and their families) to make healthier food choices. As you have learned, it is very important that children understand healthy choices concerning the food they eat. There are many delicious snacks and meals for young children that can give them the nutrients necessary for their growth and development.
Using the Unit 3 Assignment Template, you will develop a brochure that presents healthy and fun snacks for young children. The snacks should be fairly easy for young children and their families to create; not simply easy to purchase. One example of such a snack for children ages 6 and up would be the classic “Ants on a Log” [see example in template].
Your brochure must include:
Three healthy/fun snacks
Instructions for making each snack
Basic nutritional information for each snack
Explanation of key concepts related to health and nutrition as well as food safety guidelines for young children, specifically in the age group that you have chosen (e.g., choking hazards, allergies, etc.).
References for snacks and/or key concepts
Note: You may not use “Ants on a Log” in your assignment.
