CE220 Unit 2 Seminar. Attending live Seminars is highly recommended, as it is important to your academic success. The Seminar allows you to review the important concepts presented in each unit, discuss work issues in your lives that pertain to these concepts, ask your instructor questions, and chat in real time with your fellow classmates. In this course, there are graded Seminars in Units 1 through 9. You must either attend and participate in the live Seminar or complete the Seminar Alternative Assignment in order to earn points for this part of the class.
Safety Hazards
During Seminar, you will discuss potential safety hazards as well as preventative measures that address these hazards. You will reflect on your own experiences and discuss identifying hazards and the preventative measures you have put into place to avoid injury and keep children safe.
What foods/items pose a particular choking hazard to children under 3 years of age? Discuss measures adults can take to improve safety during mealtimes and while selecting toys.
What hazards to children’s safety can you identify in your own house or apartment? Explain what you can do to correct these potential safety hazards if you were to care for children in your home.
What are at least four items to consider when inspecting outdoor play areas before allowing the children to play?
To earn Seminar credit for this unit, complete oneof the following options below:
Option 1- Attend Seminar:
You are strongly encouraged to fulfill your Seminar requirement through this option if possible. Many students find the synchronous discussion very helpful because the instructor will clarify the unit information and your classmates may pose questions that you also have about the material.
Option 2- Alternative Assignment:
If you are unable to participate in the live Seminar, submit a 200–300-word essay answering the Seminar questions listed above. Seminar Option 2 postings need to be in Microsoft Word and incorporate the text material. Your response to the Seminar questions should be composed in complete sentences and paragraphs. Be sure to answer all questions and include references to earn your Seminar points. Please refer to the Seminar rubric for grading details and contact your instructor if you have questions about anything covered in the Seminar.
The Option 2 Assignment should be completed and submitted to the Unit 2 Seminar Dropbox before the unit deadline (Tuesday night).
